Cooperation is the ability to work well with others in order to get things done. Children need to understand early on that cooperation is a valuable lifelong skill. They also need to learn that accountability, responsibility, being a good team player, and communicating effectively are all part of getting along.

  • Students will learn and practice the steps of communicating effectively with others.

Some Tips to Enforce this Month's Theme

Cooperation is one skill that takes time to teach. To be part of a team is not always easy for children, because they have a hard time sharing, listening, taking turns, or following directions. There are many valuable lessons children can learn while working in large or small groups. Explain to children that they have a right to their own opinions and feelings, even if they belong to the same group. The idea is to teach them how to communicate effectively and to help them understand the power of teamwork.
